The Strongest Devil Fruits in One Piece, Ranked
People don't just search One Piece power rankings. They search specific Devil Fruits. "Strongest devil fruit", "Magu Magu vs Yami Yami", "Mythical Zoan list", "is Gura Gura still the strongest Paramecia." After the bounty guide covered who has the highest numbers on paper, this post covers what's actually making them strong: their Devil Fruits.
The ranking is canonical, focused on the top tier rather than every fruit ever introduced. We close with the collecting angle: which Devil Fruit replicas, character figures, and merchandise are worth chasing if you're building a power-themed collection.

How Devil Fruits actually work
A quick primer for anyone newer to the series. Devil Fruits come in three types: Paramecia (alter the user's body or environment), Zoan (transform into an animal or hybrid), and Logia (let the user become an element). Mythical Zoans are a fourth, rarer subcategory: Zoans of legendary creatures, traditionally treated as the strongest tier in canon.
Three rules everyone should know. One fruit per person. Eat a second and you die. The Devil Fruit user loses the ability to swim in seawater. And awakening is a recent canonical addition: a Devil Fruit user pushed to the limit can extend their power beyond their own body, with effects that vary by fruit type.
The strongest Devil Fruits in canon are almost all either Mythical Zoans or top-tier Paramecia. Logia used to be considered the elite category, but the manga's later arcs have systematically demonstrated they're vulnerable to Haki-trained fighters in ways that Mythical Zoans and awakened Paramecia aren't.
Tier 1: The Mythical Zoans
The mythological-creature tier. Vanishingly rare in-universe, almost always wielded by characters at or near the top of the world's power rankings.

Monkey D. Luffy: Hito Hito no Mi Model Nika
Was thought to be the comedic Gomu Gomu no Mi for the entire pre-Wano series, then revealed in the Onigashima arc as the legendary Sun God Nika Devil Fruit. Awakening manifests as Gear 5: cartoon-physics reality manipulation, the ability to bring inanimate objects to life, and apparent immunity to most forms of damage while active. Currently considered the strongest Devil Fruit in canon by most readings.

Kaido: Uo Uo no Mi Model Seiryu
The Azure Dragon model. A Mythical Zoan that gives Kaido his dragon form and the ability to control weather, fire breath, and pure raw destructive force. He held the title of "strongest creature in the world" largely because of this fruit combined with his Haki mastery.

Marco the Phoenix: Tori Tori no Mi Model Phoenix
The Phoenix Mythical Zoan. Less destructive than Kaido or Luffy's fruits but possibly the most utility-rich: blue regenerative flames that heal Marco himself and his allies. The "first division commander" power in any pirate hierarchy worth its name.
Tier 2: The top Logia
Logia used to be the apex tier. Then Haki happened. They're still extraordinarily strong in the right hands.

Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard): Yami Yami no Mi
The Darkness Devil Fruit. Unique among Logia because it doesn't grant intangibility. Instead, it nullifies other Devil Fruit powers on contact. The reason Blackbeard could absorb the Gura Gura no Mi from Whitebeard's body (the canonical first time anyone has carried two Devil Fruits). The single most strategically dangerous Logia in canon.

Ace and Sabo: Mera Mera no Mi
The Flame-Flame Logia. Ace's fruit, then passed to Sabo after Ace's death at Marineford. Pure destructive Logia firepower, capable of fighting on equal terms with most other Logia users. The poster child for "powerful but not strategy-changing."
Tier 3: S-tier Paramecia
The Paramecia category is technically the broadest and includes some of the most powerful fruits in canon, particularly the awakened ones.

Whitebeard then Blackbeard: Gura Gura no Mi
The Tremor-Tremor Fruit. Often called the strongest Paramecia in canon. Generates literal earthquakes and tsunamis at planetary scale. Whitebeard nearly destroyed Marineford with it. Blackbeard's current ownership of both this and the Yami Yami no Mi is what makes him a credible final villain.

Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom): Soru Soru no Mi
The Soul-Soul Fruit. Lets Big Mom extract lifespan from people and infuse it into objects, animals, or environments to create homies, sentient beings loyal to her. Her army of weather elementals (Zeus, Prometheus, Napoleon) were all homies created with this fruit.

Trafalgar D. Water Law: Ope Ope no Mi
The Op-Op Fruit. Sometimes called the Ultimate Devil Fruit because of the Perennial Youth Surgery technique, which can grant immortality at the cost of the user's life. Even without that endgame ability, Law's Room-based attacks are some of the most versatile combat techniques in the series.

Eustass Kid: Jiki Jiki no Mi
The Magnet-Magnet Fruit. Lets Kid manipulate metal and magnetism on enormous scales. He assembles his weapons mid-battle from any nearby metal, and his awakened techniques extend the magnetic effect to non-metallic surroundings.
Tier 4: Honourable mentions
A few fruits that don't make the strongest tier but are essential to any complete power discussion.

Nico Robin: Hana Hana no Mi
The Flower-Flower Fruit. Sprouts copies of Robin's limbs (and increasingly, her entire body) from any surface within range. Spy-utility unmatched, combat application has grown dramatically since the time skip with her Demonio Fleur form.

Tony Tony Chopper: Hito Hito no Mi
The original Human-Human Fruit. Gave Chopper, a reindeer, the ability to think and speak. Less combat-relevant than most on this list, but a useful reminder that not all Devil Fruits are about destruction.

Buggy: Bara Bara no Mi
The Chop-Chop Fruit. Lets Buggy separate his body into floating pieces with no damage. Pure comedy in early arcs, but it's also one of the few fruits that effectively counters bladed weapons, which is why he survived Mihawk encounters and ended up classified as a Yonko.
The fruits we didn't card-list
A few iconic powers we couldn't fit as full entries. Worth mentioning in any serious ranking discussion.
Akainu's Magu Magu no Mi (Magma Logia). Direct upgrade to Mera Mera. Killed Ace at Marineford. Still arguably the most aggressive Logia in canon.
Aokiji's Hie Hie no Mi (Ice Logia). Froze the ocean during the Marineford war. Defensive-utility Logia of the highest tier.
Doflamingo's Ito Ito no Mi (String Paramecia). Awakened, lets him control entire cities by stringing them together. One of the first fully-demonstrated awakenings in the series.
Enel's Goro Goro no Mi (Lightning Logia). Considered nearly invincible in Skypiea because nobody there had Haki. Limited only by its lack of follow-up appearances in the main story.
Katakuri's Mochi Mochi no Mi (Mochi Paramecia). Functionally Logia-like due to its substance-displacement ability. Combined with Katakuri's near-perfect Observation Haki, one of the toughest fights Luffy ever had.
Devil Fruit collecting: what's worth chasing
For collectors, Devil Fruit-themed merchandise breaks into three main categories.
Devil Fruit prop replicas. Bandai produces high-quality polyresin replicas of the most iconic fruits (Gomu Gomu / Hito Hito Nika, Mera Mera, Gura Gura). Sold in display cases, usually £40 to £80 retail in Japan, double that on UK aftermarket. The Hito Hito Nika reveal in Wano caused a price spike on Gomu Gomu replicas because of the canonical name change.
Character figures showing fruit usage. Action-pose figures of characters mid-Devil-Fruit-attack are a significant figure category. Gear 5 Luffy figures sold out instantly when announced. Awakened Doflamingo, Logia Aokiji, and Phoenix Marco figures all command premium aftermarket prices.
TCG cards with fruit-themed art. The One Piece Card Game has dedicated fruit-themed alt art releases. The awakening parallels are some of the most chase-worthy cards in the entire TCG.
Bootleg warning. Devil Fruit replicas are bootlegged heavily on AliExpress and eBay UK. Real Bandai replicas have weight (the polyresin is dense), accurate paint depth on the swirl pattern, and come in branded boxes. Bootlegs are lighter, paler, and ship in plain cardboard. Same checks as the figure scams guide.
TL;DR
The strongest Devil Fruits in canon are mostly Mythical Zoans (Luffy, Kaido, Marco) and awakened Paramecia (Gura Gura, Soru Soru, Ope Ope). Logia were the apex tier until Haki demonstrated they could be neutralised. Only Yami Yami (Blackbeard) sits in the absolute top tier among Logia today. For collectors, Bandai Devil Fruit replicas are the chase pieces, with Gear 5 Luffy and Gura Gura replicas commanding the strongest aftermarket premiums.
